White-Label GPS Tracking and Fleet Management Software: License, Self-Host or Build (2026)
There are four ways to launch a white-label GPS tracking or fleet management platform: rent a white-label SaaS platform such as Navixy, Wialon, GPSWOX, Trackobit or Uffizio; self-host open-source software such as Traccar; license the source code of an existing fleet product; or build a custom platform. White-label SaaS is fastest to launch, while licensed source code and custom builds give the most control over branding, data and margins.

Read case studyWhite-label GPS tracking software is a tracking or fleet management platform you can sell under your own brand. Telematics resellers, device distributors, dealers, insurers and fleet service companies use it to offer tracking without building a platform from scratch.
There are four ways to get one. This guide compares them, lists platforms to shortlist, and gives a checklist for the questions that decide long-term success: device support, branding depth, costs and data ownership.
Who Needs a White-Label Fleet Platform?
- Telematics service providers (TSPs) selling tracking to local fleets
- GPS device distributors who want recurring software revenue
- Mobile network operators bundling IoT and tracking with connectivity
- Dealers and leasing companies offering connected vehicle services
- Fleet service companies running maintenance or compliance for clients
All of them want the same thing: a platform their customers see as theirs.
The Four Options
| Option | Speed to launch | Control | Up-front cost | Ongoing cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| White-label SaaS | Fastest | Lowest | Low | Per device, ongoing |
| Open-source self-hosted | Medium | High | Engineering time | Hosting and support |
| Licensed source code | Medium | High | Licence fee | Hosting and maintenance |
| Custom build | Slowest | Highest | Highest | Hosting and maintenance |
1. White-label SaaS platforms
You rent a multi-tenant tracking platform and rebrand it. The provider hosts and maintains the software. You onboard devices and customers.
Platforms to shortlist:
- Navixy: telematics platform aimed at service providers, with white-label options.
- Wialon by Gurtam: a long-established fleet management platform used by many TSPs.
- GPSWOX: white-label GPS tracking software for resellers.
- Trackobit and Uffizio: tracking and fleet platforms offered to resellers.
Pros: launch in weeks, broad device support, no engineering team needed. Cons: per-device fees reduce margins, limited room to differentiate, and your customers live on someone else's platform.
2. Open-source, self-hosted
Traccar is the best-known open-source GPS tracking platform. It supports a wide range of GPS devices and protocols. You download it, host it and brand it yourself.
Pros: no per-device licence fees, full control of the code and data. Cons: you own hosting, scaling, security, updates and support. Fleet features such as maintenance, fuel and driver workflows usually need custom development on top.
3. Licensed source code of an existing product
You license the full source code of a working fleet product and run it under your brand. This sits between SaaS and a custom build.
Disclosure: Ortem offers this model. Our Fleet Sync Pro platform covers vehicles, work orders, maintenance reminders, fuel tracking and role-based access in a multi-tenant design. We license it for white-label use and can extend it for your market. See our white-label app development service.
Pros: you own your deployment and margins, and you start from working software. Cons: you need hosting and either an in-house team or a partner to maintain it.
4. Custom build
You design and build a platform around your exact customers and workflows.
Pros: full differentiation and IP ownership. Cons: highest cost and longest time to market. Device integration alone is significant work.
Device Compatibility: The Hidden Cost
Your platform is only as good as the devices it can read. Before you choose, list:
- The device models you sell today, and the protocols they use
- The devices you plan to sell next year
- Special inputs such as fuel sensors, temperature probes, CAN bus data or dashcams
Ask each platform to show those exact devices working. Adding protocol support later can take weeks per device family.
Branding Depth Checklist
"White label" can mean anything from a logo swap to a fully separate product. Check each item.
| Item | Shallow white label | Deep white label |
|---|---|---|
| Logo and colours | Yes | Yes |
| Custom domain | Sometimes | Yes |
| Mobile apps in your store accounts | Rarely | Yes |
| Branded emails and notifications | Sometimes | Yes |
| Your own help docs | No | Yes |
| No provider name anywhere | No | Yes |
If customers can see your provider's name, they can go to your provider directly.
Costs to Model
Build a three-year cost model at your expected device count. Include:
- Per-device platform fees, if any
- Set-up and branded app fees
- Hosting, if self-hosted or licensed
- Engineering for custom features and integrations
- Support staff for your customers
- Device and SIM costs
White-label SaaS is often cheapest at low volume. Licensed and custom platforms usually win at higher volume, because per-device fees disappear.
Data Ownership and Exit
This is the clause most resellers regret not reading.
- Who owns customer and location data? It should be you.
- Can you export everything, including device configurations and history?
- How do devices move? Can you repoint devices to a new server remotely?
- What happens if the provider is acquired or shuts down?
Our Recommendation
- Under a few thousand devices and testing the market: start with white-label SaaS.
- Engineering capacity and a long horizon: consider Traccar plus custom features.
- Growing reseller wanting ownership quickly: license source code of an existing product.
- Distinct vertical offering: build custom, ideally starting from a licensed base.

Frequently Asked Questions
- White-label GPS tracking software is a tracking or fleet management platform that a company can rebrand and sell as its own. The reseller adds its logo, colours, domain and often its own mobile apps, while the platform provider or the reseller's engineers run the underlying software.
- Typical buyers are telematics service providers, GPS device distributors, mobile network operators, vehicle dealers, insurance companies and fleet service businesses that want to offer tracking to their own customers under their brand.
- Traccar is open-source software that you can download and self-host. The software is free, but you pay for servers, set-up, maintenance, support and any custom features. Traccar also offers paid hosted and support options.
- White-label SaaS platforms usually charge a monthly fee per tracked device, sometimes with a minimum commitment and set-up fees for branded apps. Licensed source code and custom builds have a larger up-front cost but lower ongoing per-device fees. Compare the total cost at your expected device count over three years.
- Check which GPS device models and protocols are supported, how deep the branding goes, who provides end-customer support, per-device pricing at your volume, data ownership, uptime commitments and how you can migrate your customers and devices if you leave.
- Build only if you need features or margins no platform offers, such as deep vertical workflows, your own analytics, or ownership of the intellectual property. Many companies start on a white-label platform and move to a licensed or custom platform once they reach scale.
